Growing several varieties on one tree is a practical, fun way to produce more kinds of fruit in a small space as well as spread the harvest over a longer season.

Trees shipped to retail nurseries have limbs of some or all of the varieties budded, depending on bud take and growth. For variety descriptions, see the individual variety pages linked below. Note that regular pruning is required to keep a multiple-budded tree in balance and prevent the most vigorous limbs from shading out the others. Espaliers require regular pruning to maintain their two-dimensional shape and desired size.
