Olives
Dave Wilson Nursery now sells Olint olive trees from Nurs-tech, the California branch of the multinational Agromillora. Nurs-tech is the world’s largest supplier of “in vitro” propagated rootstocks and clonal olive plants designed for super-high density plantings that can be harvested with over-the-row mechanical grape harvesters.
Excellent clonal selection of Arbequina showing higher olive production and oil yields. Tree has an upright habit and is an ideal SHD variety. Oil is sweet, delicate and fragrant with intense fruitiness but low levels of bitterness and spiciness. Self-fertile
Improved Arbequina. Shown to have more uniform ripening. Small, high yielding olive. Excellent oil quality. Perfect for high density orchards. Adapts well to poor soil conditions. Heavy initial bearing, high productivity, more uniform ripening than Arbequina AS-1.
The dwarf Arbosana tree produces large crops of small olives with high concentrations of premium olive oil. The Arbosana flavor is a complex mixture of fruitiness with a good balance of pungency and bitterness. The late-bearing Arbosana variety is fairly cold hardy though not as hardy as Arbequina. Like Arbequina, Arbosana is self-fertile, but produces higher yields when paired with a pollenizer such as Arbequina or Koroneiki.
Greek variety, originally cultivated on the plains, lower hillsides and coastal areas of Crete where the climate is relatively warm. Adapts well in high density orchards, early producer. Very small fruit size. Excellent oil quality with very high polyphenols. Fruit yield is high with a slight tendency for alternate bearing. Blooms with Arbequina.
Packing Variety, recommended for new plantings in the Fresno area. Within their harvest season, these varieties have demonstrated superior overall quality with respect to size, color, firmness, flavor, yield, storage and shipping. Used for apricot, cherry, nectarine, peach, plum and interspecific fruit types.
Farmers Market Favorite™: varieties that have demonstrated, where adapted, consistent production of especially desirable, high-flavored fruit for local farmers market/fruit stand distributiion.
Zaiger Variety: developed by Zaiger's Inc. Genetics of Modesto, California. Dave Wilson Nursery is the exclusive U.S. licensor and primary propagator.
Note: Fruit and nut varieties in the Commercial Catalog are offered exclusively to commercial growers in commercial quantities for the purpose of commercial fruit and nut production. Products in this catalog are not offered for resale.
